Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl is back . . . and so is his brilliant and dangerous enemy, Opal Koboi. At the start of The Opal Deception, Artemis has no memory of the fairy people and has returned to his unlawful ways. In Berlin, he is preparing to steal a famous Impressionist painting from a German bank. He doesn't know that his old rival, Opal, has escaped from prison by cloning herself. She's left her double behind in jail and, now free, is exacting her revenge on all those who put her there, including Artemis.

Customer Reviews     Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - childrens book
kids everywhere like the Artemis Fowl books, sent to a school library on Pine Ridge Reservation, no problems with order or delivery

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A fantasy sci-fi adventure that's not just for your kids
I was surprised and delighted with the twist Eoin made on fairies and leprechauns. Toss in a corrupt genius teenager and the adventure had just begun! This book has sci-fi technology, action, and rapier wit that had me laughing outloud. The character interactions are hilarious, the story is filled with suspense. Though I'm usually drawn to longer more mature novels, I enjoyed this so much it was difficult to put down! A relatively quick and extremely satisfying read. I would recommend this to anyone!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Billions and still not happy!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a billionaire? Well then Artemis Fowl is for you. Artemis is a billionaire teen who inherited a fortune from his criminal father. But when Opal Koboi, a criminal fairy, threatens to take over the human world with an evil clutch he must stop her.

Artemis himself would actually like to rule the world but is more interested in money. His whole family fortune is blood money. As for Artemis, he is a trained spy. He even has a giant bodyguard Butler is known for his killing power.

When Artemis encounters Opal Koboi he finds out some fairies are villains. To stop her he must get on the good side of Holly, a fairy, who works for the LEPrecon unit of the fairy police the protectors of good. However, she wants no part of his villainous ways. In fact, she has to be threatened by Artemis to help. Even then she resists. Will Artemis ever stop Opal? Will Holly help? Or will the world be enslaved?

All of these questions and more will be answered in Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception. I loved this book! I recommend it to everybody. Boys, girls, avid readers, and even people who are not fans of reading will enjoy this book.

Eoin Colfer, the author of this book, writes with a unique style, which makes you fall in love with it. This is a page-turner and I promise when you read this you will be in love with Artemis Fowl. This book has the perfect mix of humor, intelligence, darkness, and friendship.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Insane Pixie vs. Amnesiac Boy Genius
This fourth installment of the Artemis Fowl series contains all the elements that went to make the first three books so enjoyable--quick-paced plot, intriguing characters, wry humor--but the story also contains some darker facets. Basically, not everybody is allowed to survive in this episode. At the beginning of the story, Artemis Fowl and Butler have been wiped of all their fairy memories. Artemis's blossoming conscience and sense of empathy have disappeared with his memories, and he has reverted to his old unapologetic criminal ways. In the fairies' underground Haven meanwhile, Opal Koboi, the insane pixie genius, escapes custody so ingeniously that no one realizes she's gone. She then sets out on a campaign to wreak vengeance on everyone who had a hand in her capture (see book 2, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident). Her targets include Commander Julius Root, Captain Holly Short, the centaur Foaly, Artemis Fowl, Butler, and fairy society in general. By the time Holly gets wind of the plot, Opal has set her up as a murderer and a fugitive from the LEP. In order to have any sort of hope of combating Opal, Holly must first rescue and then recruit a totally nonplussed Artemis Fowl, all the while dodging both Opal Koboi and the Lower Elements Police. Fortunately, Artemis did make a few provisions for this sort of occurence before his mind-wipe. His last fairy scheme, though forgotten by him, is still in motion. I recommend this book to anyone.
